ENERGY: The typical East Coast surf contest brings out a whole range of emotions — excitement, frustration, disappointment, bliss, anticipation, nervousness — but genuine fear is usually not very high on that list. Which is exactly why Event #3 of the 2013 Corona Extra Pro Surf Circuit was not your typical East Coast surf contest. On March 10th, with a major swell pushing in powerful 10- to 15-foot faces across Rincon, Puerto Rico, it was a struggle to even run the contest at all. But, luckily, the Corona Extra Pro Surf Circuit had a bold group of competitors and a quick-thinking event staff. And since Contest #3 of the circuit also results in the crowning of the season champions, everyone was determined that the show must go on.
